Sparkling Dusty Blue Wedding
Photographed by Jacob van Rozelaar and featured earlier this week on Bloved Blog, seeing the outcome of this dreamy shoot makes me fall in love with Amsterdam all over again!
When Cynthia from Weddingster first reached out to me with her ideas for this shoot, I instantly fell in love with the mood board and couldn't wait to get started! Inspiration for the intimate event first began with a gorgeous colour palette: dusty blues and silvery grays. The colour combination coupled with this unique Amsterdam-based venue, glowing with natural light, was a match made in heaven.
I wanted to incorporate details from the venue, as well as reflect Amsterdam’s charm in the design. The venue itself, Droog, is a beautiful 17th century building with a rich history in Amsterdam’s textile industry before becoming the art and design hub that it is now.
I created a line illustration that captured the street view of the venue, including the iconic drawbridge on Staalstraat crossing the Groenburgwal canal. Getting the right angle required sketching from a combination of photos and a street view on google maps.
The suite was finished with a delicate hand-dyed silk ribbon — a subtle nod to the venue’s textile history — and ivory wax seal.
The light and airy style carried over to the reception table, where the dusty blue name cards complemented the table runner, florals, and candles.
An assortment of wonderfully talented vendors came together to make this vision a reality (full list of vendors below).
From the stunning cake (and accompanying donuts and cake pops!) that were almost too pretty to eat, to the amazing bridal jumpsuit with matching detachable skirt, there were so many eye-catching details to admire.
